James S. Karafa 76 of Port Charlotte, Florida died on October 11, 2012 in Port Charlotte, Florida.

He was born on March 25, 1936 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and came to Port Charlotte, Florida in 1991 from Cleveland, Ohio. James was an accountant for General Motors Corporation retiring in 1991 after 30 years of service, he also served in the US Navy from 1955 until 1959.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Karafa of 48 years of Port Charlotte, Florida; his daughter, Christine E. Karafa ( Manne) Strand of Pompano Beach, Florida; his two grandchildren, Jason and Amanda Hammack and his sister, Betty Karafa of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven J. Karafa who died in 2001.

There will be a celebration of life at the family residence on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
