Ruth B. Ash, 82, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away at Charlotte Regional Medical Center January 30, 2012. She was born June 4, 1929 in Hainesport, New Jersey.
She retired from the state of New Jersey where she was a personal secretary at the New Lisbon Developmental Center. She moved to Charlotte County 28 years ago, and worked part time at the Clerk of Court in Charlotte County in Jury Management and also worked for REMAX Reality in Punta Gorda. Ruth loved to travel and keep in touch with all her family and with friends that she made through her travels. She was a dedicated Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and always had a positive outlook on life. Ruth passed this on to her family and everyone she knew. Her wonderful smile and her positive outlook on life will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her son Ernest (Sandy) Wharton of Punta Gorda, FL; Grandchildren; Tara Wharton (Brian) Price of Port Charlotte, FL; Matthew Wharton of Tampa, FL and Jonathan (Anne) Wharton of North Port, FL; Great Grandchildren, Quentin, Madison, Justin, Alexander “AJ” and Elijah. She is preceded in death by her husband Horace Ash.

Funeral Information

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm, Sunday February 5, 2012 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. A Memorial Service will be at 9:30 am, Monday February 6, 2012 at the funeral home with inurnment at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital.
