MILLBURY / ENGLEWOOD, FL - Joan M. (Haggerty) Cosky, 82, of Englewood, Florida, formerly of Millbury, died Tuesday, May 29th, in Englewood. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Casey and her husband Daniel of O'Fallon, Illinois; her three sons, Michael Cosky and his wife Gail of Millbury; John Cosky of Millbury; Robert Cosky and his wife Bernadette of East Douglas; her sister Shirley Horgan and her husband James of Worcester; six grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was born in Worcester and is predeceased by her former husband Ralph Cosky; her parents John and Marie (Groezinger) Haggerty; her brother John Haggerty; and sisters, Marie Torpey, Eleanor Migneault, and Betty Iandoli.
Joan served her country as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict, gaining the rank of Second Lieutenant. After working as a registered nurse for many years, she went back to college when she was in her late thirties and received her degree in elementary education. While working as a fourth grade teacher in the Worcester School Department, she earned her Master's Degree in Education. She taught for over twenty years in Worcester schools before retiring. She loved to golf and was a longtime member of Whitinsville Golf Club and Pine Ridge Golf Course.
