Englewood, & Punta Gorda FL Area Dewey Lyndle Norton, 76, passed away from Renal Failure on December 6, 2011. Dewey was born on December 20, 1934 to the late Dewey and Effie (Lake) Norton in Shawano, Wisconsin. He graduated from Shawano High School on May 27, 1954. Dewey joined the United States Army proudly serving from 1957 thru 1958. On September 14, 1963 he married Rita Matz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bowler, Wisconsin. Together they enjoyed 48 years of marriage. Dewey worked for Phenix Garage Door Company in Shawano for 32 years as a Saw Operator. When the factory closed he worked at Carver Yacht in Pulaski for 12 years. After retiring his family moved to Port Charlotte, Florida where he had been residing for nearly three years. Dewey enjoyed playing cards, camping, traveling, fishing, bird watching and gardening. He loved watching the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. He was a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Dewey was looking forward to joining “the little church” Living Waters Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte.
Survivors include his loving wife, Rita; Christine and significant other, Robert Menigoz of Port Charlotte, Fl.; one sister, Viola Raeder of Neenah, Wisconsin, sister and brother in law Gene and Yvonne Matz of Greenville, Wisconsin; sister in law Carolyn Matz-Gutt of Tigerton, Wisconsin. Dewey is also survived by his loving pets Chloe and Annie. Also survived by Grandpups Pork Chop and T-Bone; Grandcats Samba and Risa. Dewey also had made many wonderful friends in the short time living in Florida.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Dewey and Effie Norton; in-laws Herman and Hildegard Matz; one sister Sadie Thompson and three brother-in-laws William Thompson; Victor Raeder; and Rodney Matz.
A memorial service will be held on December 17 at 11:00 am at Living Waters Lutheran Church 12475 Chancellor Blvd Port Charlotte, Fl 33953 with Pastor Dell Shiell officiating, Military Honors will follow. A memorial service will be held in the spring in Shawano, Wisconsin at St. James Lutheran Church. Time of service to be announced at a later date. A memorial fund will be set up for the Kidney Foundation.
The family would like to thank RAI Renal Center for their loving care the past two years. Also the family would like to thank Christine’s loving coworkers from Millennium Physician Group Business Services Department for all their love and support.
