Joseph R. Goulding

Joseph R. Goulding, 76, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away September 8, 2010. He was born September 2, 1934 in Solana / Punta Gorda to Harry R. and Reba C. (Gaskill) Goulding. He graduated Charlotte High School with the Class of 1953 and attended the University of FL, Gainesville, 1953-1955. Mr. Goulding worked for Coast and Geodetic Survey and performed marine surveys of Charlotte Harbor and SW Florida. In 1955, he was drafted into the US Army and spent two years serving in Germany. In 1959, he began his career as a Meter Reader for the Florida Power and Light, working for 34 years before retiring in 1993. Joe enjoyed fourteen years volunteering with Pop Warner Football, as Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Equipment Manager. He served on the Board of Directors for the Peace River Conference, was President of the Punta Gorda Little League, was honored in the Charlotte High School Hall of Fame and volunteered with the Charlotte High School Chain gang for 27 years. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, 2nd Lt. Joel Knight Camp #2175 Charlotte Harbor, FL and was given the Punta Gorda Centennial Community Award 1887-1987 for work with youth and community service. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, hybridizing hibiscus, spending time at his Fish Camp, and was an avid fan of the U.F Gators and member of the Charlotte County Gator Club.
He is survived by his sons, Brit Goulding and Rex (Sherry) Goulding; grandchildren, Lara, Camp, Raelyn, Ryder, Rosalee and Reva; a sister, Ann Bobo, all of Punta Gorda, FL; a brother, Mike Goulding of St Petersburg Beach, FL.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 11 at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center, 701 Carmalita Street, Punta Gorda, FL with the Rev Bill Klossner officiating. Inurnment will take place at Indian Springs Cemetery. The family requests donations in memory of Joe be made to the Charlotte High School Athletics Dept, were the Joseph R. Goulding Scholarship Fund will be established) 1250 Cooper Street, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.

Funeral Information

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 11 at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center, 701 Carmalita Street, Punta Gorda, FL with the Rev Bill Klossner officiating.
