Charlotte Harriet Keefe, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012, after a long struggle with mesothelioma. She was born in Winchester, Indiana, on July 2, 1918, moving to Southwest Florida in 1965.
Charlotte was a Life Member of the Order of Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Matron of both Lehigh Acres and Fort Myers chapters, as well as a member of Sonshine Baptist Church in Port Charlotte.
She is survived by her husband, William Hering of Punta Gorda; daughter, Debra (Michael) Goff of Punta Gorda; granddaughter, Lisa (Keith) Armour of Lehigh Acres; and great-grandchildren, Carlton and Zoe Hurt of Lehigh/Cape Coral, as well as, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews in Indiana, many friends and extended family. She was greeted in heaven by three husbands (Garl Hammond, Eldon Arford and Charles Keefe), her parents, Albert and Ida Ola Hiatt, brothers and sister-in-laws and many beloved friends.
A memorial service will be held in Charlotte’s honor at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Tidewell Hospice, our angels on earth, at tidewell.org.
