Jeremiah Ivan Backus, 35, of Punta Gorda, Florida was called to heaven on May 15, 2012. He was born August 11, 1976. Jeremiah was a lifelong resident of Punta Gorda and graduated from Charlotte High School. He has owned his own business and worked in Charlotte County for many years. He was a wonderful, loving father and had an honest, thoughtful, gentle way about him that brought out the best in anyone he met. Because of those traits he made many friends of customers and business acquaintances alike. Jeremiah never met a stranger and befriended everyone. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. We will all remember the smiles and faith filled advice that Jeremiah had for all of us. It brings us great comfort in knowing that he joins his Grandma & Grandpa’s in heaven with our heavenly Father. Jeremiah was survived by his wife, Daisy and three wonderful children; Ryan, Jullianne, and Jonathan, his father, Ralph Richardson of Harbor Springs, MI, his mother and step-father, Myrna (Backus) and C. Kevin Moore Sr. of Punta Gorda, brothers, Kevin Moore Jr. of Port Charlotte, Charles Moore of Punta Gorda, Nate Richardson and Mitchell Richardson both of Harbor Springs, MI, sisters, Krissa (Moore) Takasutka of Honolulu, HI, Amy Otero of Traverse City, MI, and Tiffany Moore of Fountain, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Marge Richardson of Harbor Springs, MI, and Thelma Moore of Charlotte Harbor, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and more friends than anyone could imagine. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm, on Monday May 21, 2012 at 6276 Alan Blvd., Punta Gorda, FL 33982. Rev Frank Vargo will officiate. Inurnment will be at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.
