SCEVIOUR SORRENTINO
Evalyn Sceviour Sorrentino died peacefully in Port Charlotte, Florida, on April 28, 2012. Evalyn was born Sept. 7, 1919 in Sparrowbill Cove (Porterville), Newfoundland, daughter of Belle and James Sceviour. She was predeceased by her first husband Major Donald A. Klein; second husband Robert Sorrentino; brothers George, Harry and Wallace Sceviour; and sister-in-law Dorice Sceviour. Evalyn leaves many wonderful memories for her sister-in-law Margie Sceviour and for her several nieces and nephews who thoroughly enjoyed her visits, kindness and great sense of humour. Throughout her career, her business savvy led to several supervisory office positions. She was also a life-long learner, always taking courses, and loved to travel. As a US Army wife in the late 40’s and 50’s, Evalyn became a US citizen and lived in various US states, as she and Donald moved frequently to new postings. After Donald’s untimely death in an airplane crash, she continued working in Alabama but eventually moved to Boston where she met Bob. She spent several years living in Saudi Arabia when Bob’s work took them there. In their retirement years, they moved to Port Charlotte, Florida, where Evalyn was known for her generosity and active involvement in her community and church.
