Online Obituaries for the Port Charlotte, Venice,
Englewood, & Punta Gorda FL Area

Sylvia Ann Wallace was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Sylvia and Charles Van Eaton. The youngest of four children, Sylvia spent her childhood in Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma where she met and married Don Lee Wallace. They moved to Louisiana with children David and Cindy in tow; Diane and Sally were born in Lake Charles, LA. Raising four children was our mother’s mission in life. Her greatest joy, and greatest gift, was nurturing her children, her eleven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Her selfless spirit was evident in her pride and devotion to her family.
Sylvia passed away in Englewood, Florida surrounded by the Boyer family who have loved and cared for her during a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Our family extends the deepest gratitude to our friends at Inglenook for their wonderful care and to Sylvia’s friends in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and North Carolina – the places her children call home where Sylvia was loved and admired by many.
In honor of her lifelong devotion to children everywhere, in lieu of flowers, donations to Manasota SOLVE (manasotasolve.org), Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF.org) or to any organization that serves and protects children would be appreciated.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday July 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Doan Chapel of Englewood United Methodist Church.
