Shelton “Calvin” Flowers, passed away Tuesday February 8, 2012. He was born August 21, 1936 in Punta Gorda, FL, the son of John David and Maxine Flowers. Calvin grew up in the back bays and palmetto pastures of Punta Gorda, commercial fishing, cowboying and doing things still told in stories today. In 1962, upon returning from the Air Force, he married his love, Louise Eagleton, who remained with him for the rest of his life.

Calvin is survived by his wife Louise, his sister, Shirley (Edgar) Hall and his three sons, Kevin, John and Michael all of Punta Gorda. “Pops” also has eight grandchildren; Justin, Catrina, Sheldon, Jimmy, Michaela, Kylie, Colby and Cade as well as Cody and Lane, his great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday February 17, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, 507 W Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to Tidewell Hospice at tidewell.org.
