Neil Arlyn Minnich 81 of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on December 9, 2012.

He was born March 5, 1931 in Liberty Center, Ohio to Melvin and Grace (Murray) Minnich. He graduated from Napoleon High School in 1949, and Bowling Green State University in 1958. On June 13th 1970 he married Shirley A. (Walden) Slusher, she has since deceased, on Nov 11th 2003.

Neil was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Loyal Order of the Moose, American Legion, as he served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He taught school and coached sports for 33 years, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed crafting and internet surfing, and his family and friends.

Neil is survived by his sons, Dr. Kris Minnich, DVM of North Port, Florida, Steven Minnich of Fremont, Ohio, Kevin Minnich also of Fremont, Ohio and brother, Max Minnich of LaCanto, Florida. Neil was preceded in death by his father, Melvin, mother, Grace; sister, Lyndamae, and wife Shirley.

A celebration of life will be held at Siesta Key Beach, on December 22, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.

Cremains will be at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian, Michigan in March of 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Port Little League at P.O. Box-7143. North Port, Florida 34291
