Floyd M. Whidden, Sr, 78, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away August 23, 2010 in Labelle, FL. He was born December 13, 1931 in Buchanan, FL and moved to Punta Gorda in 1956 from Immokalee, FL. He worked as the Ranch Forman and Professional Hunting Guide for the Charles Payson Ranch in Punta Gorda. He retired in 1987. Mr. Whidden was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church and was an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his children, Floyd M. (Jamie) Whidden Jr of Punta Gorda, FL and Kathryn (Alan) Adams of Labelle, FL; step-children, Carol Midgett, Nancy (Ervin) Lee and Sidney Lowe, all of Punta Gorda; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Jessie (Earl) Taylor of Alabama. He was pre deceased by his wife Edith Kirkland Whidden in 1989 and his second wife, Dorothy Whidden in 2008, as well as his brother, Orville Whidden.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm, Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, August 27, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Mowry officiating. Burial will follow at the Immokalee Baptist Cemetery.

Funeral Information

Visitation on Thursday, August 26 at Kays-Ponger & Uselton FH in Punta Gorda from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Service is on Friday, August 27 at Kays-Ponger & Uselton FH in Punta Gorda at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Immokalee Baptist Cemetery in Immokalee at 12:30 p.m. following the service.
