Vera Marie Beck, 86, of Venice, Florida, passed away on the morning of February 27, at the Venice Hospice House. The daughter of Sebastian and Rosaria (Leotta) Nucifora, she was born June 18, 1926 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Employed at Merck during WWII, she contributed to the Manhattan Project and for many years worked as a secretary at General Instrument Company. After coming to Venice, she remained active with several organizations, including Friends of the Library, Tidewell Hospice, the Orchid Society, and the East Village Association.
She leaves her loving husband, Charles, of Venice; three sons, Jeffrey Beck of Somerset, NJ, John Beck of Randolph, NJ, Charles Beck, Jr, of Venice, along with her sister Anne Cardillo of Venice and four grandchildren, Catherine, Veronica, Lisa and Dominick.

Funeral Information

Friends are invited to be with the family 2-4 and 6-8, Monday, March 4, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1935 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice. A Funeral Mass will be 10am, Tuesday, March 5, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Venice. She will be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery
