William D. "Bill" Weitz, 91, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away May 9, 2018. Bill was born March 7, 1927 in Utica, NY. He and his family lived in Albany, NY and enjoyed a wonderful cottage in Speculator, NY. He served in the Navy during WWII and graduated from Siena College in 1950. Bill retired from Mobil Oil Corp. in 1984 as Industry Manager of Construction and Mining. He then volunteered and was later employed by Charlotte Regional Medical Center in the Emergency Department. Always the people person, he loved his later job manning the gatehouse greeting everyone at Seminole Lakes. He belonged to the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Isles Yacht Club, St. Andrews South Golf Club, American Legion, Elks, and Seminole Lakes Country Club, where they lived for many happy years before relocating to South Port Square in Port Charlotte.
Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 67 years, Carol Baxter Weitz, daughter Janice (Peter) Kent of San Francisco, CA, sons David (Joanne) of Ballston Spa, NY, and Robert of Westport, CT, his beloved grandchildren, Abby (Blake) Teachey, Ryan (Andrea) Kent, and Trevor Kent, and his cherished great-grandson, Clifford Kent, as well as 2 great-grandchildren expected in the fall.
A memorial service and witness to the Resurrection will be held at the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, as well as at the Albany Rural Cemetery, both at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 11330 Burnt Store Rd., Punta Gorda, FL 33955.
Please accept my sincere condolence on Bill’s passing. I always thought that you and Bill were the perfect couple.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this difficult time.
It was with much sadness that I read of Bill's passing. I knew you both when I was working at the Isles Yacht Club, Inc. and he was on the Board of Directors and up the ranks to Commodore. He was just terrific to work with; so kind and good hearted. Prayers of comfort to you and all the family. Rest in peace, Bill.
Carol and Family ,
As residents of Seminole Lakes, we knew Bill quite well and will remember his friendly demeanor when greeting us when he was "on duty". He was always willing to "chat" whenever and wherever we saw him. Rest in Peace Bill!

I send sincere sympathy on your loss of Bill. What a classy man he was. We met him in church originally at Burnt Store and then at Seminole Lakes at the 'gate' when we went golfing there.... I will always remember his classic manner and smile.... Sincerely, Edith Nelson
It is with great sadness that I learned of Bill's passing. I first met Bill at the Gate at Seminole Lakes and then later worked with both of you on the sale of your home. He was always kind, friendly and helpful. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
