Duane E Stadler of Englewood FL, and Crandon, WI, passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family on February 15th, 2012.
Duane was born November 30th, 1940, in Wausau WI, to Ed and Genevieve Stadler.
Duane spent most weekends as a child on Trump Lake in Wabeno WI, where his love of hunting and fishing began . During High School he met his wife of 51 years Shirlee (Effa) Stadler. Shortly after marrying they moved to Wabeno and opened Stad's Tap, where they met many of their dearest friends to this day. Duane’s children have fond memories of his loyal following to their extra-curricular events. He was always present at their activities while in school rain, snow or shine!
Duane was an active Volunteer for the Rescue Squad and Fire Department. He was also an active member of the Lions Club. Duane worked in the insurance industry for over 25 years where he earned his FIC designation. He was elected to the NAFIC board of directors, a national board of only 10 elected members in the United States. He served on that board for 11 years and served as president the final year of service to the board. He was also honored as the Fraternalist of the year in the state of Wisconsin.
Duane and Shirlee moved to Florida shortly after retiring. The children and grandchildren spend their vacations and have fond memories of fishing on the gulf with “grandpa.” Duane and Shirlee continued to spend their summers "up-north" where they enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, and four wheeling. He loved being at lake Metonga where the kids and grandchildren were frequent visitors and great memories were made.
Duane was rich with friends and a loving and caring family. To the moment of his death he was surrounded by his dearest friends and wife Shirlee. Duane was known for his quick wit and love of the outdoors.
Duane is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirlee, son, Scott and Tammy (Chrisman), daughter Hope and Doug Bloch, son, Kent and Kerri (Sosnoski), daughter Alison Draheim fiance Pete Granquist, sisters Karon and Ray Czerwinski, Charlene and Don Goretski, and brother -in-law Jerry Meyers. In addition, Duane was blessed with six grandchildren, Jacob Stadler, Zachary Stadler, Alexandria Bloch, Maxwell Bloch, Cameron Stadler and Jackson Draheim.
He was preceded in death by parents Ed and Genevieve Stadler, sisters Sharon Meyers, and Joyce Elaine Stadler.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held in Duane’s honor from 4pm-6pm on Monday February 20th at Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Crematory, Englewood Florida.
